Beatrice was the second oldest child of the Zack Hubert family. She was graduated from Spelman College in 1901 and began a long teaching career which carried her to Anniston Normal and Industrial College, Anniston, Alabama; Arkansas Baptist College, Little Rock, Arkansas; and the Atlanta Public School system, where she was the principal of Mayson Avenue School.

In 1910 she married the late Dr. Ross Douthard of Gadsen, Alabama, who was a prominent physician, who maintained offices in Decatur, GA and at their home in Atlanta, GA. To this union were born four children, three daughters, and one son: Cora Estelle (Mrs. Vernon C. Smith, Sr.); Edna Mae (Mrs. Clifton E. Hubbard, Sr.); Dr. Ross S. Douthard, Jr. (Marjorie Hood); and Rozlyn Maenetta (Mrs. Joseph H. Blakeney, Sr.)

Beatrice Hubert Douthard was a devoutly religious person. She was extremely active in social, civic and religious activities most of her live. At the time of her death in Atlanta, Georgia on December 17, 1953, she had eight grandchildren.
