Moses Hubert
1882-1937

Moses attended grammar schools at Springfield and White Plains, and high school and college at Morehouse College (formerly Atlanta Baptist College), Atlanta, Georgia. Upon graduating from Morehouse, Moses studied dentisry at Meharry Medical College, Nashville, Tennessee for two years.

After leaving Meharry Medical College, Moses returned to Atlanta where he operated a flourishing wallpaper and paint business. After many years in business he returned to his native Springfield, where he became County Farm Agent and a practical farmer.

Moses was an artist, too. He loved to paint pictures of country scenes. Many days he could be found sitting on the top of a hill at Springfield painting his beloved country scenery. His favorite scene was the area encompassing the Springfield Church and the Hubert homestead. He used to say that the area had particular appeal to him because he had many fond boyhood memories of it.

Moses died in 1937 as a result of injuries sustained in a hunting accident near the Hubert farm.
